William Hill Review

William Hill are one of the oldest names in the business, with a strong presence on the high street but those old-school punters are missing out on a host of value available online – especially when it comes to accumulators.

Place any accumulator with 6 teams or more (has to be in the 90 minute win market) and if one team lets you down then your bet is refunded. Mega. It’s a great incentive to back those accumulators online with William Hill rather than queuing up in the dingy local bookies.

New customer bonuses

Opening bonus: As mentioned on my William Hill ‘How to sign up’ page, new customers are entitled to a free £30 bet When you open a new account.

Other bonuses: But the free bets and bonuses don’t stop there! If your first goal scorer selection scores second, or the game ends 0-0, then your stake is returned – it’s a nice insurance option that is worth keeping onside of.

Good Stuff

The William Hill website isn’t spectacular visually but it shouldn’t put you off the content available. A personal favourite of mine is the ‘Tip Advisor’ section, where like-minded punters will share their opinion on pretty much any event ranging from the World Cup to the youth leagues in the Czech Republic.

The Tip Advisor is located in the community section of the site, or on the side of your bet slip so you can see what selections are hot, and you can even create your own profile and begin tipping for other members to follow – if you fancy yourself as ‘Charlie big B***ocks’ tipster. You will also find a list of the most backed bets of the day, most profitable members and featured tips with analysis.

It’s a very useful tool that will help boost your measly looking treble into a bookie spanking 6-team accumulator. You will learn which tipsters have an in depth insight and knowledge on a particular market, so use this to your advantage.

Like most online bookies you can easily build up your accumulator with one click selections from European football to in-play coupons. The instructions, choice of bet and potential profits are clearly displayed, so don’t worry if you are unsure what a yankee will payout compared to a four-fold – it’s all covered on the bet slip – unlike some bookmakers who will not display potential profits on your multiples.

Bad Stuff

However, much like Bet Victor and the more traditional bookmakers, you get the feeling that football and accumulators are playing second fiddle to the horse racing. William Hill are clearing pushing their horse racing promotions, in-play race streams and live radio while it would be nice if they added a extra dimension for accumulator punters with price boosts or free bets.

The usual nonsense of virtual racing, live roulette and slots are plastered all over the site to try and distract you finding that winning accumulator. But, in this day and age, it’s hard to avoid the virtual bookmaker ramming every revenue stream they have down your throat.

Although, to negate the flashing casino banners, they have some nice features on their football coupon with Opta Stats and special bets based on the current trends. Fancy Luis Suarez to continue his splurge of goals or a penalty to be awarded in the Newcastle v Everton match? Of course you do, stick it in your accumulator.

Final Word

Overall, I find William Hill a sound bookmaker to use. Their prices are good, although not quite up to Bet Victor standards but it’s a name I trust and the Tip Advisor is a welcome addition when trying to plot your way through the minefield of fixed odds accumulators. They easily made it into my top 6 and with a growing reputation for accumulator betting, William Hill continues to impress.

About Jon

I've made What Acca to try and help people starting out with accumulator betting. The possibilities of these types of bets are pretty much endless, with the major attraction coming from the fact that a lot of money can be won for very little outlay. What Acca will hopefully teach you how to make more profitable accumulator bets whilst also eradicating some of the mistakes that I have made over the years.
