FA Cup Second Round Predictions

The magic of the FA Cup returns this weekend and so do the round two betting tips from WhatAcca. The lower league teams are desperately close to being in the third round hat. Can the clubs land the victory which will put them in the hat?

There are lots of intriguing match-ups, with teams potentially earning a huge sum from reaching the third round and meeting a top-ranked Premier League side.

SATURDAY 4TH DECEMBER

Burton Albion v Port Vale

Something of a Staffordshire derby at the Pirelli Stadium on Saturday. Burton play a division higher than Port Vale but they are not all that reliable week to week. The Valiants are going to pack out the away end although could be spurred on to an inspired performance. Vale are in very decent form and at a decent price, we will side with them to cause a little upset.

BEST BET: Port Vale to win

Cambridge United v Exeter City

One of the stronger teams in League Two makes the trip to play one of the weaker teams in League One. However, Cambridge do score plenty of goals despite losing top scorer Paul Mullin last summer. We think Exeter will want to serve it up in this clash and BTTS Yes seems like the logical play.

Doncaster Rovers v Mansfield Town

It was a tricky few weeks to the season for Nigel Clough at Field Mill, although Mansfield have now rallied and they head to the Keepmoat Stadium in good form. We’re expecting them to win against a team who looked doomed to relegation from League One. Manager Richie Wellens has just left the club and Donny look vulnerable.

BEST BET: Mansfield to win

Leyton Orient v Tranmere Rovers

Micky Mellon’s Tranmere are no strangers to going deep in the FA Cup. They have recently earned clashes against Tottenham and Manchester United, with Rovers now ready to win a fixture where they triumphed last season. The O’s are favourites but might struggle to cope with star striker Paul Glatzel, while Josh Hawkes is a bundle of energy in the wide left position.

BEST BET: Tranmere to win

Portsmouth v Harrogate Town

Portsmouth have found some form in League One. We think that Danny Cowley’s side can outscore a League Two team who also like to play on the front foot. Harrogate will want to pull off a shock but we think any goals that they might score could be the consolation variety.

BEST BET: Portsmouth + BTTS Yes

Walsall v Swindon Town

Swindon have excellent away form this season and the Robins can leave the Banks’ Stadium with an FA Cup victory. They are mainly wanting promotion this season although the way in which they landed a 3-0 win at Crewe in the previous round suggests that they can overcome an inconsistent Saddlers team.

BEST BET: Swindon to win
