William Hill Plus Card

William Hill is killing it right now in the betting industry. If you’ve followed any of my accumulator betting tips of late, then you will see how highly they have been ranking in terms of their pricing structure.

Whilst they are one of the oldest betting companies, they are also one of the most innovative.

One of their more recent innovations has been that of the William Hill Plus Card. This basically allows you to link up both your online betting account to your shop betting account.

It’s a ploy to try and generate more footfall through their shops, but I know a lot of people still like to place bets on the high street, so this makes perfect sense.

What is the William Hill Plus Card?

Well, it’s just that, a card. You essentially get a credit card that is hooked up to your account. It’s a bit like a pre-paid cash card and it means that you can deposit and withdraw instantly.

For example, let’s say we were to bank a 20/1 winner and you’ve stuck £10 on online. The bet wins, we pocket £200. Usually, you’d have to wait a few days before the money clears to your bank. The Plus Card eliminates that by allowing you to literally walk into any William Hill betting shop and claim your cash straight away. As soon as it’s cleared in your betting account, you are free to do what you want with it.

How to claim your card

Registration is fast and really simple:

  1. Enter any one of the 2,300 William Hill betting shops in the UK and ask to register for a William Hill Plus Card.
  2. Once you take your card, you will then link it up to your mobile where you will be redirected to the Plus Card app.
  3. Just tap and scan your card on the machine in the shop and you are good to go. Any problems, then any of the staff will be more than happy to help you. The whole process takes just a few minutes.

    How does it work?

As stated, your online and betting shop account is now linked. So this means that you can track any live and online bets.

When signing up you will be given a link to the web app. Here you can track all your bets that you’ve placed with William Hill. It’s also worth noting that you can cash out your high street bets as well, more on that later though.

Depending on your balance, you can place bets, deposit or withdraw money. All you do is tap it in store and away you go, just like you would a contactless transaction with your debit or credit card.

It’s also worth noting that you can play any of the betting machines in store with the card as well. Again, just tap it on the contactless button and you can choose how much you want to deposit.

    William Hill Plus Cash Out

You’ve not misread that! For the first time ever at William Hill, you are going to be able to cash out your bets placed in the bookmaker.

You will need to do this via the Web Plus App, but the process is very simple. The market will react in the same way that it would online. So, if something important is happening, then they will suspend that market until the event has passed.

You’ll be given a cash-out price for your bet and then it’s simply down to you if you want to cash in or not. If you choose yes, then your bet will be settled.

    Advantages of William Hill Plus

For me, the advantage of linking your high street betting account to your online betting account makes perfect sense. I will admit, I don’t use the high street bookmaker nearly as much as I used to, but I do think that this sort of feature would lead me to use it more.

I love the way that you get instant access to your funds. There are other bookies that offer this, but it’s still pretty rare. One of the most infuriating things about betting online is the fact that you need to wait to get your money.

A great example of this happened just the other week actually. I was out with a group of friends and as we do, we stick a tenner in each and have a daft bet. Well, it won. I’d placed it online, but I used the William Hill app and new that I could get the cash if needed. The fact we were able to pocket over £200 in cash each and get it the same day was great!

The cash out function is another game changer in my opinion. I don’t know why it’s not come out sooner, but better late than never. The feature doesn’t seem to work as well as the main betting app though and can be a little sluggish at times. Overall, it worked fine for what it is.

The link between live and online is a good thing! The high street is dying for the most part and it’s not just the gambling industry that is suffering.

This could be a great way to get the high street segment of the betting industry a new lease of life.

    Disadvantages

There are very few downsides to the card, to be honest. The only thing that gripes me is the app itself as it’s a web app. Would have been nice to be a fully integrated app that you can easily download to your phone. That being said, it does function well on all smartphone and tablet devices that I’ve tested on.

    Overall

The William Hill Plus Card is a winner for me. I don’t know if it will revolutionise the high street betting scene or not. Although, I’m not sure anything can. But, if you do like to bet on the high street and online, this card makes total sense.
