Will Erling Haaland Knock Mo Salah Off His Perch Next Season?

Erling Haaland’s debut season for Manchester City saw the Norwegian striker score an impressive thirty-six goals in the Premier League. That was comfortably enough for the forward to land the Golden Boot prize, while the former Borussia Dortmund player was able to plunder twenty-seven the following campaign which landed him a second prize.

However, Haaland could only manage third in the rankings last season. Twenty-two goals during a campaign is not to be scoffed at, although it left him seven short of Mohamed Salah. Liverpool’s Egyptian King is no stranger to individual scoring prizes and it might be that the pair are duking it out when it comes to 2025/26 scorer.

Haaland Big Favourite for Golden Boot With the Bookies

Despite last season’s shortfall, Erling Haaland is still the even money favourite to return to the winners’ enclosure next season. The bulky front man did only make 31 top-flight appearances last term and there were injury issues which prevented him from firing on all cylinders. There was also a drop-off from City who were unable to claim a fifth consecutive league title.

However, the bookies make the Norwegian a roughly 50% chance to win the award for the third time in the space of four seasons. Haaland will start the new season as a 25-year-old and scarily with his best years ahead of him. There are big changes to the squad over the summer and perhaps the forward will benefit from the arrival of Rayan Cherki and Tijani Reijnders.

Salah Bidding to Win Fifth Premier League Golden Boot

Mohamed Salah will go down as one of the best Liverpool FC players of all time. The 33-year-old’s numbers have been incredible for the Merseyside club. Under Arne Slot, the Egyptian was sensational last term when helping the Reds land just a second title in the space of thirty-five years. It’s little wonder that he’s being paid the big bucks.

Salah pilfered twenty-nine goals last term as part of that championship success. That put him six clear of the field and perhaps he’s the value at 4/1 this time around. Age doesn’t seem to be a factor considering the incredible shape that the African appears to be in and he could well be operating at the peak of his powers for years to come.

Salah’s goal return during his eight seasons at Liverpool read as follows: 32, 22, 19, 22, 23, 19, 18. 29. His debut campaign remains his most prolific when breaking through the 30-goal mark, although last season saw him finish just one shy of that total. The bottom line is that the African has never gone below 18 goals and he has managed 184 goals in the space of 288 games.

Can Isak Win his First Top Scorer Prize?

Alexander Isak has demanded to be noticed since arriving at Newcastle United. The Swedish forward has gone above twenty goals in the past two seasons, registering a tally of 23 last term which was two better than the previous campaign.

He now has a very healthy fifty-four goals in the space of eighty-six matches for the Magpies and the 25-year-old will surely continue to build on this success. He was the player separating Salah and Haaland last term and it would come as no surprise if they were the front three home again.
