Champions League Matchday 1 Betting Tips

Champions League Matchday 1 Betting Tips – The 2021-22 Champions League promises to be highly exciting. With several clubs across Europe capable of winning the competition. Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester City head the betting market, although Chelsea, Liverpool, Bayern Munich and Manchester United are all viable winners. We look ahead to the first Match Day of the Champions League and pick out some games where we have expert predictions.

TUESDAY 14TH SEPTEMBER

Chelsea v Zenit Saint Petersburg

Thomas Tuchel wasn’t hugely impressed by Chelsea’s performance against Aston Villa on Saturday. With Edouard Mendy arguably the best player for the Blues with a couple of really smart saves. However, Romelu Lukaku adds a scoring threat in attack and we might see Reece James and Andreas Christensen return for this clash, with the brick wall of a defence likely to stop Zenit from scoring.

Barcelona v Bayern Munich

It’s possible that Bayern Munich are stronger than previous incarnations now that Julian Nagelsmann has replaced Hansi Flick. The Bavarian side are among the Champions League outright favourites and there was plenty to like about the 4-1 win at Leipzig at the weekend. Having beaten Barcelona 8-2 two seasons ago, we think they’ll land the win against a Messi-less Catalan side who are also without Martin Braithwaite for several weeks.

Young Boys v Manchester United

Manchester United have the capacity to go deep in the Champions League this season. Especially with Cristiano Ronaldo and Raphael Varane making them potentially stronger at either end of the pitch. However, they conceded against Newcastle on Saturday and we think the best way to play this match is back the Red Devils to win and both teams to find the net. Young Boys did hammer Zurich 4-0 at the weekend have a goal in them.

WEDNESDAY 15TH SEPTEMBER

Inter Milan v Real Madrid

Two high-scoring sides clash at the San Siro Stadium, with Internazionale having scored nine goals in three matches.  With Lautaro Martinez having bagged in the past two matches. Simone Inzaghi’s side will want to try and land an early win against a vibrant Real Madrid side who enjoyed a 5-2 triumph against Celta Vigo at the weekend. This included a Karim Benzema hat-trick and BTTS Yes seems the obvious play here. Learn more about how to win Both Teams to Score bets with the Whatacca.com handy guide.

Liverpool v Milan

Harvey Elliott is now a long-term absentee for Liverpool although the Reds could still be too good for Milan. Mohamed Salah was outstanding at Elland Road and could be a menace to the Italian side all night. The Rossoneri might struggle to cope with the Merseyside team, especially the threat posed by Trent Alexander-Arnold. We’ll keep it simple and go for the Liverpool win.

Manchester City v Leipzig

Can City go one better than last season? They should be able to beat a Leipzig team without conceding here. Jesse Marsch’s side have failed to score in both away games and were soundly beaten 4-1 by Bayern last weekend. The Manchester City defence are set to stand firm thanks to Ruben Dias’ brilliant expertise in front of Ederson.
